Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How are you able to make biodiesel so much more cheaply than competitors?
A: While traditional means of biodiesel production use clean feedstocks like soybean and vegetable oil, our process is able to handle dirty, high-FFA grease that nobody else has any use for. Because of this, we are able to get all of our feedstock absolutely free, which cuts down on price significantly.
Q: Are you a real company?
A: Not yet, but we’re planning on it. Our senior design program is dedicated to the development of an actual sustainable business as a senior project, and we hope that, grants and other funding willing, we will have the capacity to make our production facility a reality.
Q: What is your current production capacity?
A: We are currently constructing a reactor that will process about 30 gallons of waste grease at a time.
Q: Why does every one of your senior leaders have his or her head tilted to the side in their photograph except for Andrew Phelps?
A: Andrew’s strict upbringing in an Amish community in Lancaster, PA has left him uneasy with being photographed, hence his stiff and unsure pose. While Andrew has come quite a long way since running away to attend NC State 3 years ago, even wearing buttons and gaining rapid internet proficiency, he is still deathly afraid of cameras.
